Zimbabwe passes Cyber Security bill

Zimbabwe’s parliament passed the Cyber Security and Data Protection Bill that will establish the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) as the Cybersecurity Centre and Data Protection Authority of the country. New Zealand banks face cyber-attacks

Several organizations in New Zealand were down on Wednesday due to a cyber-attack on the websites of several financial institutions and the New Zealand Post Office. The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) acknowledged the distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack and stated it was “monitoring the situation and are working with affected parties where we can”. New device to prevent USB drive threats

Researchers at UK’s Liverpool Hope University have developed a scanning device to prevent malware-based attacks from spreading through USB Drives. The device sits between the PC and the USB drive to act as a gateway or barrier and scans the USB drive for any threatening content. Read More


UK’s ICO against online cookie pop-ups

The information commissioner from the UK’s Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) will meet her counterparts in the G7 nations and ask them to join forces against cookie pop-ups online. The ICO’s plan includes web browsers or even device-wide settings to "allow people to set lasting privacy preferences of their choosing, rather than having to do that through pop-ups every time they visit a website". Apple faces antitrust case in India

Apple is facing an antitrust case in India over in-app payments issues. The complaint is over Apple’s imposition of a 30% in-app fee that hurts app developers-filing. for distribution of paid digital content and other restrictions.
