WhatsApp sues Indian government over new privacy rules

In a first, WhatsApp has filed a lawsuit against a national government by suing the Indian government over its new IT rules. The law, passed in February, will force companies to remove encryption and put messages into a “traceable” database for the government to identify and take action against the senders of “unlawful” content. Russia fines Google for failing to delete banned content

On May 25, the Russian media watchdog Roskomnadzor ordered Google to remove "unlawful content" from its platform within 24 hours. Subsequently, the company was fined $81,600 for failing to delete content that Moscow deemed illegal. Read more about it here.

Air India hit by massive data breach, affecting 4.5 million customers

Three months after a data breach at the airline data processor SITA, Air India reported a data breach that compromised the personal data of nearly 4.5 million passengers. The stolen information included passengers’ names, credit card details, date of birth, contact information, passport information, ticket information, Star Alliance and Air India frequent flyer data, Air India said in a statement.

Apple exec admits Macs have an unacceptable amount of malware

Apple’s head of software admitted that the company is not pleased with the amount of harmful software, or malware, on its operating system for Mac computers, MacOS. The statement was made at the company’s court case with Epic Games, which is seeking to force Apple to allow it to install alternative app stores on iPhones, which are permitted on its Mac computers.
