Irish DPC investigates TikTok

The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) has launched two inquiries in relation to alleged EU General Data Protection Regulation violations by TikTok. Danish DPA to fine Central Jutland Region

The Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet, has proposed a fine against the Central Jutland Region for failing to ensure sufficient security to the region’s patient records at the Livstilscenter Brædstrup lifestyle center’s archive. A report submitted to Datatilsynet stated that the records contained health information and social security number information and could be accessed by all patients and staff at the lifestyle center. SNAF faces a €3,000 fine by CNIL

The French data protection authority (CNIL) imposed a fine of €3,000 on the New Company of the French Directory (SNAF) based on complaints regarding difficulties in requesting the erasure and rectification of personal data. Following an audit and a hearing, SNAF was put on a two-month notice to comply with the GDPR but failed to do so. Read More


Microsoft accounts to go passwordless

Microsoft is rolling out a passwordless sign-in option for all consumer Microsoft accounts. This will allow users to sign in to services, such as Outlook and OneDrive, without having to use a password. Users can instead use the Microsoft Authenticator app, Windows Hello, a security key, or SMS/email codes. Read More


DoorDash sues NYC

Food delivery company DoorDash has sued New York City over a law that forces third-party food delivery services to share customer data, including names, phone numbers, and email addresses. The company called the new law a “shocking and invasive intrusion of consumers’ privacy” and stated that “customers will face a serious risk of harm from their personal data being shared with every restaurant that fulfills their order on DoorDash’s platform.” Read More
